I want your blood.

I recently started looking into taking a phlebotomy course at North Seattle Community College.  For those of you who don’t know, phlebotomy is the technique/science of drawing blood and doing basic laboratory tests.  The course is 5 Saturdays, and once I’m done I can supposedly get an entry-level job drawing blood for a wage that is – crucially – over minimum wage.  I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about blood.  Maybe it’s the potential summer job, maybe it’s the heightened sense of drama associated with blood, maybe I just want to feel powerful.  I hope it’s not the latter.

In other news, I’ve been building a bicycle.  I got the frame for free outside of Recycled Cycles (yes, they have a free rack outside of the store… but this reminds me of a time when I was standing conspicuously outside the U-bookstore, and I when a girl parked her fixed gear bike, I started probing her about the parts and she gave me this look that said “when I return from buying my textbooks, is my bike going to be disassembled and for sale on ebay?”) .  Almost every day, I make an appearance at Recycled.  I’ve gotta look into buying the right front rim, getting the right gear ratio, getting some lighter crank arms, a seatpost, brakes, kicksta… i mean, no kickstand.  Kickstands are for pansies.  Ain’t that right?
